Executive Director of Career Programs and Employer Relations
In her position as Dominican University’s Executive Director of Career Programs and Employer Relations, Jamie Shaw oversees a $3 million U.S. Department of Education Title V grant designed to advance educational opportunities for Hispanic students, specifically relating to career development and financial literacy. Since January 2021, Shaw and her team have expanded financial literacy resources to enhance the financial wellness of Dominican students and increased employment and internship opportunities through the addition of career development courses taught by industry professionals.
Jamie has extensive experience serving first-generation college students, having spent over 10 years working in higher education at institutions committed to social justice. She holds a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University. She regularly presents on topics related to career development, embedding professional development into curricula, employer engagement, and serving first-generation college students. Jamie is actively involved within her community, most recently joining the committee board of Friends of Aspire, an organization founded in 1960 and recognized throughout Illinois and Wisconsin as a leader in providing bold, pioneering and uncompromising services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, their families and their communities. She was a 2019 Leadership Lab Fellow through the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation, nominated for Dominican University’s Davlin Diversity Leadership Award, and, most recently, nominated for the 2021 Crain’s Chicago’s 40 under 40.
Director of Career Curriculum & Employer Relations
Lisa Malvin is the Director of Career Curriculum & Employer Relations in Dominican University’s Office of Career Programs & Employer Relations. Lisa is responsible for overseeing Dominican’s Career Development Program, composed of four career development classes, and also manages the Executive in Residence program in which seven top-tier industry professionals mentor undergraduate and graduate students. In her role, Lisa works with faculty to design and pilot career development courses and also coordinates numerous employer engagement opportunities each semester.
Prior to her role at Dominican, Lisa was the Assistant Director of Professional Development Programs at the University of Chicago, where she ran multiple certificate programs and initiated all of the career development programming for over 900 certificate students. Lisa is a passionate advocate for non-traditional students and has extensive experience in career development, student advising, and program administration. She holds a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lisa is a member of NACE, CEIA and is certified in the Clifton Strengths assessment.

Assistant Director of Internships and Externships
Bianca first joined the Office of Career Programs & Employer Relations in January 2021 on the Title V, Part A2 grant. She works to place DU students in internships and externships (job shadowing opportunities) in addition to facilitating enrollment into DCDP courses. Bianca is also available to meet with students on Handshake or in person to review their resumes, discuss career goals, and direct them towards the Experts and Executives in Residence. She is passionate about finding exciting career development opportunities for students of marginalized groups, particularly undocumented and international students.
In December 2020, Bianca graduated summa cum laude from Dominican University after completing a BA in International Business with a minor in Spanish. She has since returned to her studies at DU and plans to graduate with a Master of Business Administration degree in May 2023. Bianca is also a member of CEIA and NACE.
STEM Career Programs & Internship Coordinator
Denise Guzman is the STEM Career Programs & Internship Coordinator. She joined Dominican University in May 2022. Denise has over 10 years of experience working in higher education. Denise worked as a Completion and Transition Specialist at Triton College in the Adult Education department where she advised ESL and GED students. Prior to Triton College, Denise served as the Career and Transfer Center Manager at St. Augustine College, where she assisted students with career advising, career exploration, transfer assistance, and job placement. Denise is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Leadership in Adult Learning and Higher Education at Aurora University. Denise holds a Master of Arts in Communications and Training and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, both from Governors State University. Denise is a passionate student advocate who enjoys guiding students through their academic path.
Jennifer is the Project Assistant for Title V, Part A2 & B. Jennifer assists the team and the office of Career Programs & Employer Relations with office management and record keeping. Jennifer is excited to be managing two new programs including Suit-Up and The Headshot program. Suit-Up provides new or gently used business attire to students that attending job interviews. The Headshot program provides on-demand headshot for students to use for LinkedIn profiles, Handshake profiles and e-Portfolios.

Jessica graduated from Dominican University in 2018 with a degree in Graphic Design. In 2021, she applied and was accepted into Dominican’s Master of Business Administration program. She is pursuing an interest in marketing and is expected to graduate at the end of summer 2023.
