Job Description:
MDM Entertainment is looking for a creative and organized Props Manager to join our dynamic team. The Props Manager will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, fabricating, and installing innovative props and scenic designs for various events. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for creating immersive environments, and the ability to lead projects from conception to execution.
Responsibilities:
- Design and fabricate creative props and scenic concepts that align with the client’s vision, event theme, and budget.
- Source, build, maintain, and manage props and set pieces, ensuring they are event-ready and meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with the event production team, clients, and vendors to coordinate the seamless integration of scenic elements and props into the overall event design.
- Lead the setup and strike of scenic designs and props at event venues, adhering to safety protocols and timelines.
- Maintain an inventory of props and scenic materials, ensuring items are inventoried, stored and transported properly.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, procurement and resources to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and materials to innovate and enhance event designs.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously, efficiently managing time and resources to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Scenic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum of 3 years) as a Props Manager, Scenic Director, or in a similar role within the event production, theater, or entertainment industry.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and skill in scenic design and fabrication.
- Proficiency in design and production software such as Fusion360, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Vectorworks.
- Experience and skill with painting, carpentry, welding, foam sculpting, sewing, 3D printing and other construction and fabrication techniques is essential.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet event schedules.
- Physical ability to work on-site, handling setup and breakdown of scenic elements.
