Events and Networking

Career Fair

Every fall and spring semester, the Office of Career Programs & Employer Relations hosts a Career Fair. This is a great opportunity to network with Dominican undergraduates and graduate students. Typically, we see upwards of 400 students at the event. We purposefully keep our career fair as intimate as possible to ensure that employers can engage with many students.

Mock Interview Event

Each semester, students in the Career Development 200 course attend the Mock Interview Event as part of their final exam for the course. Students are paired up with volunteers from our employer partner organizations for a mock interview, allowing students to practice their interviewing skills. This event is a great opportunity to network with sophomores and juniors. Interview questions are provided.

Employer Virtual Visits

Dominican University offers employers the opportunity to connect directly with students through Employer Virtual Visits. These virtual visits take place during class time with upwards of 50 students in a session. During these virtual visits, employers typically present in a webinar format for about 40-45 minutes, covering topics such as an overview of their organization, information about the hiring process for their company, what they look for in an employee, or a career development topic of their choice. After the initial presentation, students are able to ask questions for about 20-30 minutes. The students always appreciate learning more about how organizations recruit and how they can stand out as applicants (and they always ask great questions!).

Classroom Networking Events

We invite employers to attend final presentations in our 300 and 400 level career development courses each semester. In the 300 level career development course, students present a five minute presentation on their elevator pitch and receive feedback from classroom visitors. In the 400 level career development course, students spend the semester creating an e-portfolio and developing their personal brand. During the final class, we invite employers to come to the Senior Showcase where students will display their portfolios and present their career goals.
