IGEN 2025 applications now open!

The Graduate School at Northwestern University’s Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Success is pleased to announce that applications are now open for our 2024 Introduction to Graduate Education at Northwestern (IGEN), which will be held in person from Thursday, September 25 through Saturday, September 27, 2025.

The application deadline is Friday, June 14.

Introduction to Graduate Education at Northwestern (IGEN) is a program for rising juniors and seniors interested in doctoral study. IGEN provides an opportunity for prospective students to network with faculty, staff, and current students from doctoral programs.  

IGEN is a fully-funded two-day program that includes accommodations and visits to Northwestern’s Chicago and Evanston campuses.

Eligibility requirements

  • Interest in a PhD program at Northwestern University
  • US citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient 
  • Undergraduate student or recent (2024) graduate
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Prior research experience preferred 
  • Students of all backgrounds are welcome to apply.
